Our association is responsible for promoting and implementing U.S. Soccer's initiatives and programs in support of all affiliated members and competitions within the state of Kentucky.

Spring State Tournament Events
With spring beginning, now is the time to start thinking about the Kentucky State tournament events. We have three competitive youth events asa well as the adult state cup event this spring. Advance Recertification Date Announced for 2014
The advanced recertification clinic date has been announced for 2014. The clinic and fitness test will be held on Saturday August 3, 2013. This year we will only be offering the FIFA Interval Fitness Test (40 meter dash (8.0 seconds - 6 times); then a 35 sec run (150 meters) and 45 sec walk (50 meters) for 3 miles) instead of the Cooper Test offered in previous years. This is a mandatory clinic and fitness session for all Grade 5,6,7, Referees in Kentucky. The clinic is also mandatory for all Emeritus Referees in Kentucky. The clinic will be held at Waggener High School in Louisville and will begin at 9:00AM. In addition, the instructor and assessor recertification clinic will be held on Sunday August 4, 2013 at Waggener High School.

2013 National Referees from Kentucky
Congratulations to Josh Brooks, Tony Crush, and Aaron Hernandez for being reappointed as USSF National Referees for 2013. Special congrats to Jamie Dumstorf for completing his upgrade to National Assistant Referee. These four hold the highest USSF Grades (Grade 4) from Kentucky.

KY Referees at Disney College Showcase
National Referee Aaron Hernandez along with Referees Johan Pedolsky and Sara Reynor officated both the Boy's and Girl's Disney College Showcase that was held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando December 27-January 3. Over 900 teams from the US and other countries participated in the event. Congratulations to National Referee Aaron Hernandez for being selected to be the Referee for the Girl's U17 Showcase Final between JFA ACADEMY FUKUSHIMA from Japan and Braddock Road Elite from Virginia. The game was broadcasted on ESPN3 live. Johan and Sara were also chosen to officate final games in both the Boy's and Girl's events. Congrats to them as well.

KY Referees Participate in Florida USSF Referee Academy
Four Kentucky referees participated in the Florida/USSF Referee Academy in Orlando, FL. State Referee's Daniel Barber, Parker Lawson, Evan Sizemore along with Referee BJ Hall had the opportunity to learn from Mentors and Assessors from US Soccer during the Boy's Disney College Showcase December 27-30. Each officiated two games each day with Mentors providing feedback. Classroom and Field Instruction were also provided each day. The four had the opportunity to officiate National League games as well as the State Referee's had the opportunity to officate the National Academy games on the last day. Congratulations to all four.

Assistant State Director of Instruction Named
The Kentucky Soccer Referee Association is pleased to announce that Bob Gilchrist has been appointed as Assistant SDI. He will assume this position immediately in addition to his role as Logistics Coordinator. Bob’s tireless commitment to the Association is appreciated.
