ASSIGNMENT
Overview
There is one assignor grade:
- Grade 8 – Assignor
Although there is only one grade, assignors service leagues and tournaments at a variety of competitive levels.
The State Director of Assignment is responsible for the coordination of the assignor network within the State Referee Association. Local Assignment Coordinators for professional matches are selected by the U.S. Soccer Referee Department.
To become a certified assignor, one must complete the USSF Grade 8 Assignor course, pass the written test, and pass a background check. They must renew their certification on an annual basis. To become an assignor within Kentucky, you can complete these requirements at U.S. Soccer Learning Center.
Assignor Appointments
Assignors should be selected by the affiliated competitions being served with advisement from the State Referee Committee.
Assignor appointments should be made for a period of at least one year and assignors should be familiar with the registration and certification processes for officials.
All USSF sanctioned games must be assigned by a certified assignor. This includes recreational, competitive youth, adult amateur, and professional games. A sanctioned game is defined as a game that includes a USSF member team or club playing another member team or club.
When an assignor is also a referee, they should not officiate in any competition where they also serve as an assignor (unless in an emergency situation).

National League, Girls Academy & KPL games hosted by KYSA members are assigned by KSRA. Assignments are done through Gameofficials.net in the 1146 KSRA Group. If you wish to officiate these games, please make yourself available in that group.
